Berlin will resonate the sounds of Irish music on Tuesday 21st Sept as Temple Bar TradFest arrives in town! A special showcase event will be held at the Irish Embassy in Berlin from 6.30pm to promote the very successful Temple Bar TradFest to assembled dignitaries, tour operators and members of the German media.

The event has been organized by Temple Bar traders who organise the annual festival. Many local business people will themselves travel to Berlin to promote Temple Bar and the Irish music and culture Festival. Among those travelling will be RTE Radio One presenter and TradFest Artistic Director Kieran Hanrahan.

This special event will celebrate Irish music and culture and among those expected to attend will be the Australian and British Ambassadors in Berlin and several prominent German Government ministers. Temple Bar already plays a vital tourism role and accounts for approximately €700 million of the Irish Tourism Industry which is valued at €6 billion annually. It is hoped that this event will further increase international interest in the festival.

This showcase event will include performances by Clannad vocalist Moya Brennan, Cirrus (the Irish Trad group recently brought together by Dónal Lunny) and Sean-Nós Dancers the Cunningham family will lead the evening of Irish music and culture. Guests will also enjoy traditional Irish food, drink and hospitality.

Speaking of the 2011 Temple Bar TradFest programmer and RTE Radio One presenter Kieran Hanrahan said "We are very proud of how the TradFest has grown over the past five years and has become a firm fixture on the Irish festival calendar. Year on year the festival has presented some of the biggest names in Irish music alongside many exciting new performers and musicians. Having performed extensively with Stockton's Wing in Europe over the years I am very aware of the high regard in which our culture and music is held throughout Germany."

The Temple Bar TradFest will take place from the 26th-30th of January 2011. Winner of Ireland's best traditional music festival in 2008 and 2009, this year's festival will be jam packed with the best of Irish Traditional Music and Culture. Full programme details will be announced later in the year.

Festival Director Martin Harte said "We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the very best of established and emerging Irish talent on such and important international stage. The traders in Temple Bar are committed to working to promote the area and Ireland abroad. Plans are well underway for the 2011 festival and we look forward to welcoming more European audiences to Temple Bar next year"
